The Covenant signatories voluntarily commit to increase energy efficiency and to use renewable energy sources at their territories. By their commitment, Covenant signatories aim to achieve and even exceed the European Union’s 20% CO2 reduction goal by 2020.

2015 - 2020

The Covenant of Mayors is the main European movement involving local and regional authorities, voluntarily commit to increase energy efficiency and use renewable energy sources at their territories. By their commitment, Covenant signatories aim to achieve and even exceed the European Union’s 20% CO2 reduction objective by 2020.

In order to transform this political commitment into specific measures and projects the Municipality of Elefsina commited to:

1. Prepare a Baseline Emission Inventory (BEI).
2. Develop an Action Plan for Sustainable Energy (SEAP).
3. Apply SEAP.
3. Involve citizens, local authorities and enterprises in energy-related activities, e.g. Energy Days organization.

Public Power Corporation (to provide electric energy consumption data).

There was emloyees' participation for the inventory of emission reference and the development of the action plan.

Municipality of Eleusis (Eleusis, Magoula)

By the reduction of energy consumption and the increase of renewable energy sources, the CO2 emissions will be reduced at least by 20%, in order to achieve better climate and energy for all.

Reduction of energy consumption cost by at least 20%.
