MUNICIPALITY OF GREVENA

Minimum Guaranteed Income

The main goal was to offer an income support for those living in extreme poverty, the "reunion" of the poorest in society and the labor market, the access and the interconnection of beneficiaries to complementary social benefits and services, and the activation and promotion of beneficiaries in actions concerning job fingding, vocational training, etc.

Adults with low incomes or guests and families living in poverty, as long as they were residents of the Municipality of Grevena for at least six months before the filing date of the application. In the Minimum Guaranteed Income could also apply foreigners if they meet the economic, social and other conditions.

Municipality of Grevena by it's Social Service undertook to facilitate beneficiaries - applicants to the program during the electronic completion of applications. The inaccessibility to PC, the insecurity in completing electronic forms and the lack of basic knowledge on PC use or Greek language (for foreigners) necessitated the above provision and the contribution of the municipal employees was crucial for the successful completion of program. In addition the Municipality undertook to communicate with the Ministry of Labour for clarifications, remarks or corrections regarding fortunes errors and interposed between citizens and the Ministry. At the end of the process the Municipality welcomed the European watchdog and offered all statistical data and information for the final evaluation.

Many citizens and residents of the Municipality of Grevena received significant financial support to their revenue and could even for a while (six months) to settle debts to public services (payment of electricity bills, water, etc.), banks or other.
