MUNICIPALITY OF KALLITHEA

Action aimed at cultivating literacy in the school or at home, through direct connection with the Municipal Library.

It is addressed to  Primary School children

"Reading backpacks ... for exciting trips"  traveled every two months in 12 Primary Schools, from 26/11/2015.

 The Municipal Library of Kallithea prepared 4 "reading backpacks .... for exciting trips".

They include 20-30 books for children, with graded reading challenges, in order to satisfy the familiarity of each student, with the reading of literary books. They also include items related to the content of the books, so as  to attract young readers.

The books of each backpack belong to one theme:

1.Classic stories from fantasy and reality, Contemporary literature
2.Mythology, Fairy Tales
3.Values, Emotions
4.Environment-Animals, Science

It was held in collaboration with the Primary Education Community

The reading backpacks were organized by the employees of the Municipal Library.

The place of action of the program, was the Primary Schools of Kallithea.

•  " The reading backpacks ... for exciting trips" went to 12 Primary Schools.
• About 1,200 children borrowed from the backpack books.
• Also, this action resulted in the attendance and registration of new members in the Municipal Library.

During the program , there has been  an increase of about 300 new members at the Municipal Library.
