The municipality of Drama is a Local Authority (A degree) and belongs to the Perfecture of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It’s aims are to administrate local matters of the municipality, promoting social-economic-cultural activities and suppling to citizens support services.

The action consists of individual ongoing actions aiming at the safe, innovative IT management systems of the Municipality of Drama.
The target group of the action is the municipal services, with a view to better serving the citizens of the City of Drama through the use of safe and upgraded IT systems of high availability.
Gradual implementation for the past 5 years.
Implementation of a windows server 2012 with ActiveDirectory – Domain Services for distinct access roles to computer systems and data, virtualization system for servers, switches Layer 3 networking, unified threat management devices (UTM), vpn connections and optic fibres in various municipal services with different vlan.
Supervision of compliance with backup processes with new high availability storage system, capable of making snapshots for quick restoration of virtual machines.
Confidentiality: users access only to the data/ information they need, instead of the entire municipal information database - Structured corporate network-based on directory services - ActiveDirectory - DomainServices.
Security: use of a unified threat management (UTM) and modern protection programs from malicious software to protect data integrity and confidentiality level.
Availability: access to data and municipal services by users when required. Storage of data in a storage type device, high availability with dual high-speed connections to the local network, safeguards to reduce risk of data loss in case of device failure. Backup systems with restoration possibilities. Application of a set of policies that ensure the quick resumption in the event of system malfunction, both at hardware level and software and data loss level.
Better management of computing resources of the municipality (processing power, memory, network and storage), use of virtualization technologies for reduction of the equipment used (saving through cost reduction) and better use and management of computing resources. Better management of the available bandwidth using UTM devices and blocking of content and services.
Provision of high availability services from virtual machines. In case of failure of a physical server, virtual machines can continue to operate, as they are automatically being transferred to the second server.
Storage release from physical servers
Easier maintenance of physical servers since no shutting down of virtual machines is required.
Use of fiber optic network and vpn technologies for secure communication between remote municipal services of the City Hall at high speeds.
