City of Elefsina belongs to the Region of Attica, which established by the project Kallikrates with the combination of pre-existing City of Eleusis and Magoulas' community.

Aeschylia instituted aiming to present culturally the Elefsina city and offer to residents (and each guest) high level cultural events.

July- October (every year).
The Aeschylia established since 1975 and constituted for all Local Authorities the disclosure means of Eleusis ancient history, which remained buried under the soot and dust of factories. Today, the Aeschylia are improved qualitative and recognized nationwide. The festival takes place in old industrial facilities, which are given to municipality by the National Bank of Greece.
The importance of this area is enormous because it abuts with the Archeological Site, this area will soon become municipal with the process of urbanization. Also, two Prime Ministers have promised that will establish the new archeological museum in this area. The Municipal Authority of Eleusis and the Commission for the Aeschylia organization aspire to offer high quality events for the entertainment of residents and visitors, every year. The festival hosts a variety of theater performance (ancient theater: Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Sophocles, Euripides), concerts, films, art exhibitions, and scientific meetings.
