Objective Action

The main purpose of the action is the creation of new fertilizers using nanobubbles technology, in order to give the ability to all plants to immediately absorb all the nutrients from the fertilizer without losses to the environment.

 

Target Audience

The action is aimed at all manufacturers who are interested in the production of new, more efficient kinds of fertilizers, containing nanobubbles, in order to improve their products quality in accordance with the requirements of their clients and the needs of the crops.

 

Duration

The action has started with an implementation framework that provides the direct cooperation of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology and the company, both on a theoretical basis, and in practice of the products in crops of the local area.


Description

The nanobubbles are nanoscopic cavities, typically contained in aqueous solutions and filled with gas to an internal equilibrium pressure, at least equal to that of the external environment. The nanobubbles have the ability to change the normal characteristics of the solution. They are stable for long periods of time in contrast with larger or smaller bubbles that disappear shortly. Because of the theoretically very high pressure within nanobubbles (small size and high surface tension), the gas should be leaving the nanobubbles within microseconds. Under specific conditions, nanobubbles can be formed freely and remain stable for long periods of time, up to several months.

The characteristics of nanobubbles differentiate the physical and chemical properties of a product, creating new opportunities for profitable new products and applications.

The nanobubbles are going to be used for plant nutrition through the development of new fertilizers, using methods of Nanotechnology, in which all the nutrients are bioactive and readily digestible by all parts of the plant, without any retention or loss of nutrients. 
In this way, significant amounts of lubricating components will be saved, having as a result the reduction of the specific consumption of fertilizers and, consequently, the reduction of their overall imprints.

Furthermore, the addition of nutrients enriched with nanobubbles to the soil, gives the possibility of an integrated nutrition, accompanied by a controlled release of nutrients, while smaller amounts of those are used and fertilizer losses throughout soil ground and ground water are by far lower.

Impact on Society

The application of this method is expected to limit the demand for fertilizing lubricating units in crops, by 5% - 10% and, also, to reduce significantly the waste of lubricating units to the ground.



Initiative Location

This action is applied from the company in owned test crops in New Karvali and in other crops in the wider area of Kavala. Alongside it is implemented by the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology on site and at the Institute’s laboratories in Kavala and Drama.

Working with Organization

The action is developed in cooperation with the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology having the scientific knowledge of the theory of nanobubbles. Furthermore, it will be experimental agricultural crops, with application of these products both in crops grown in the privately owned areas of the company and in farmer areas of the region.
