This action can be characterized as innovative, while it is dealing with health and safety at work, environment and energy issues, by setting common criteria, goals and programs.
The action is aimed at all company employees and to all industries that pursue a more effective management of Health and Safety, Environment and Energy issues, implemented by an Integrated Management System adjusted to their requirements.
The action was launched recently and certified in 2015, in accordance with the standards ISO 14001: 2004 ELOT 1801: 2008 / OHSAS 18001: 2007 and ISO 50001: 2011.
HELLAGROLIP S.A. has implemented an Integrated Management System for Health and Safety at Work, Environment and Energy, which meets all the requirements of Standards ELOT 1801: 2008 / OHSAS 18001: 2007, ISO 14001: 2004 and ISO 50001: 2011.
Based on the approach "Plan - Do - Check - Act" of the above Standards, the company incorporates simultaneously the management of Health and Safety, Environment and Energy in its daily operations and practices.
HELLAGROLIP S.A. performs a continuous identification of all the potential risks for both Health and Safety at Work and Environment, applying the processes of HELLAGROLIP SA Integrated Management System. The company, also, ensures the evaluation of all the relevant risks by applying systematic technical risk assessment and by implementing all the necessary controls to prevent them.
Furthermore, an environmental and energy planning is being performed in order to improve its environmental and energy performance. Under the above objective, HELLAGROLIP SA is constantly evaluating the activities that affect the environment and energy by recognizing and analyzing their environmental impacts.
In addition, the company carries out an environmental and energy design and planning based on all the factors that significantly affect the environmental impact and energy use and performance of the company.
In this action HELLAGROLIP SA, also, conducts an environmental and energy assessment, consisting of analysis of environmental measurement, energy use and consumption data. Another relevant action is the identification of the points of significant environmental impact, considerable energy use – consumption and the identification of all the opportunities to improve the environmental and energy performance of the company.
Through the operation of the Integrated Management System, the company sets documented objectives, targets for both Health and Safety at Work, Environment and Energy, in order to achieve the strategic objectives of its Policy on Health and Safety, to support its environmental policy and various functions / activities and improve its energy performance. As part of the Integrated Management System, the company has created and applied several suitable parallel and multidimensional action programs, in order to achieve the objectives of the System.
Through a series of common processes on safety and health, environment and energy that the Integrated Management System is consisted of, the company is able to manage all the parameters of the system by exploiting the least possible resources.
The simplification of the System offers better understanding of the general processes and, consequently, leads to more rational management of health and safety at work, environment and energy.
Via the implementation of the Integrated Management System in HELLAGROLIP S.A., several environmental and energy management projects were accomplished during the last two years. One of the most significant results of the above projects was the reduction of the company's footprint by up to 30%. These projects, also, increased the participation of employees in actions which are tightly linked to rational management of all processes by about 10%.
