Description

The core of the ethics and compliance program of The Coca-Cola Company is its Code of Business Conduct. The Code guides the Company’s business conduct, guided by honesty and integrity in all its activities. All of its associates and directors are required to read and understand the Code and follow its precepts in the workplace as well as in the broader community. The key commitment is to build an ethical business culture across the entire Coca-Cola system. To ensure conduct of business with honesty and integrity, the starting point is to comply with all anti-corruption laws of every country where the Company operates.

The Code of Business Conduct

The Code of Business Conduct of The Coca-Cola Company serves as the foundation of the Company’s approach to ethics and compliance. It clearly states the expectations of accountability with regard to ethical conduct in all areas of business. All of our Company and majority-owned subsidiary associates are required to read, understand and adhere to the Code’s precepts, both in the workplace and in the larger community. The Code of Business Conduct of The Coca-Cola Company was launched in 1978 and is currently available online in 22 languages, as well as offline in an additional 10 Indian languages/dialects.

Anti-Corruption

The Company's anti-corruption compliance program is dedicated to ensuring that business throughout the Coca-Cola system is conducted in a fair, ethical and legal manner. This means avoiding corruption in any form, including bribery. The Code of Business Conduct and Anti-Bribery Policy give guidance on operating with honesty and integrity. They clarify the expectation that anti-corruption laws are adhered to in every country in which the Company operates.

Ethical Conduct Administration

The Code of Business Conduct is administered by the Ethics & Compliance Committee. This cross-functional senior management team oversees all ethics and compliance programs and determines Code violations and discipline. The Ethics & Compliance Office has operational responsibility for education, consultation, monitoring and assessment related to the Code of Business Conduct and compliance issues. Associates worldwide receive a variety of ethics and compliance training courses administered by the Ethics & Compliance Office. Business is regularly monitored and audited to ensure compliance with the Code and the law. The Company also maintains a consistent set of best-in-class standards around the world that govern how it investigates and handles Code issues.

Ethical Conduct Training

To ensure an ongoing commitment to and understanding of the Code of Business Conduct, The Coca-Cola Company offers online training to all associates using Company-provided computers and covering topics related to ethics and compliance, including the Anti-Bribery Policy. In 2016, this training program was modified and revised to reflect the Company’s updated Anti-Bribery Policy.

Building Ethical Business Practices in High-Risk Areas

The Coca-Cola Company is committed to building an ethical business culture throughout its system, particularly focusing on the business conducted in countries and territories where there may be a higher risk of unethical behaviors. Additionally, the Company has developed a number of programs to address anti-corruption issues around the world.
