Objective Action

At Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon, we believe and invest in the new generation, as youth constitute the future of our country. The aim of this CSR Program is to improve the educational environment and create friendlier and safer school buildings. This way, we demonstrate our commitment to the local community and contribute significantly to the daily lives of thousands of students, providing substantial improvements in their school routine. Our main objective is to make a positive, lasting contribution to communities, raising the standards and bridging gaps created for the most disadvantaged areas.

Target Audience

Students, parents, educators, Parents’ Associations, Local Authorities, local communities in Thessaloniki and the wider public in Greece (through public voting).

Duration

Since 2012

Description

Acknowledging the lack of financial resources and the need to improve school infrastructure, we developed in 2012 the program “The School You Want”, the only corporate program in Greece that fully covers the repair and renovation costs for school buildings, thus responding to students’ actual needs, as well as improving both their learning environment and everyday school life.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
1. The program is implemented in close collaboration with Municipal Authorities, the local Parents’ Associations, the Schools’ Principals and the local residents of Thessaloniki Prefectural Unit and the Athens Municipality.

2. The program initiates with an open invitation from our company to the Parents’ Associations and the Municipalities of the Thessaloniki Region. The Parents’ Associations declare their school’s candidacy to the Municipality where it belongs.

3. The municipal councils approve the nominations, providing the school buildings are legal and without any static problems.

4. Then, the voting procedure of the nominated schools is launched online with a duration of 15 days. The winner is the school that collects the majority of votes and is announced publicly so that the respective works can start.

5. As a next step, the municipalities approve the urban planning analysis, supervise the works in progress and are responsible for the final permission for the beginning of the project upon the Municipal Council’s decision.

6. The company fully covers the costs for repairing and renovating works, hires technical advisors, specifies the needs and implements the works in collaboration with the relevant services.

INDICATIVE WORKS
We implement more than 50 repairs and improvement works in the school, amongst which:

  • Painting of the exterior and interior spaces of the school building
  • Repairs and renovation works
  • Repairs in courtyards (installations and forming of benches, planting green, repairing shelters, etc)
  • Roof repairs, replacing and/or placing doors, changing floor, installing anti-slipping vellum on stairs, repairing rails and barristers for people with special capabilities.

Workers Participation

Due to the technical knowledge needed for carrying out the renovation works, our employees are fully informed on the program but they are not invited to participate. Nevertheless, the local sales team is actively involved by distributing informative material to kiosks, mini-markets and super-markets.

In addition, vouchers 500 EUR are delivered by our employees to the schools that participated to the program, as a recognition gift for the efforts they made throughout the duration of the program.
