Athens Digital Lab

The development of applications and solutions that can be applied in the City of Athens, while enhancing youth entrepreneurship and researchers.

Students, researchers, young scientists, young entrepreneurs and young startups, who love technology and want to be active in the development and commercialization of new products / services.

In the framework of the implementation of the digital strategy of the municipality of Athens and with an  exclusive grant  by  the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), Athens Partnership with the cooperation of COSMOTE, Nokia and SNF, create the Athens Digital Lab.

Athens Digital Lab is a unique smart city research and development laboratory, supporting innovative solutions that will improve the quality of life of Athens’ residents and visitors. For this reason, following open competitions, it selects and supports innovative applications and solutions that respond to the real needs of the capital and evolve into advanced Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for smart cities, while enhancing the digital transformation of the city.

A pioneering project, which aims to introduce innovation into municipal and city structures and to enhance youth entrepreneurship.

In the framework of the implementation of the digital strategy of the municipality of Athens and with an  exclusive grant  by  the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), Athens Partnership with the cooperation of COSMOTE, Nokia and SNF, create the Athens Digital Lab. 

Executives of the municipality of Athens, NOKIA and Cosmote, act as mentors in the teams selected to join Athens Digital Lab.

Athens Digital Lab is located in Sarafio Center for Sport, Culture and Innovation of the Municipality of Athens, Piraeus and Petrou Rallis, Athens

In October 2017, after an open call 108 proposals were submitted, out of which 6 were selected to join Athens Digital Lab from 8 January 2018. In total, the teams consisted of 24 people, young developers, engineers, entrepreneurs and business professionals. Any solution that will be successfully deployed within Athens Digital Lab, will positively affect the everyday lives of thousands of Athenians.
