Development of the innovative product “oikiaLAVA” in cooperation with the Laboratory of Vegetable Crops of the Agriculture Faculty of AUTH

This project aims at:

  • Offering to consumers solutions that help them cultivate vegetables in their gardens
  • Familiarizing the society with the vegetables cultivation in rural environment with limited capacity
  • Facilitating the cultivation of vegetables without the use of fertilizers
  • Promoting the environmental awareness in younger as well as older people and at promoting health diet along with a creative and relaxing activity

Consumers/ wide public which is interested in cultivating vegetables at its place in rural environment.

December 2015 the grow bag was redesigned according with the market feedback and was made smaller, handier and more attractive.

The cultivation of vegetables in urban environments is a popular practice in recent years. It is an innovative and efficient solution for the production of vegetables from consumers themselves who enjoy a relaxing activity while cultivating, as well as this way meet their own nutritional needs.

Heracles through LAVA SA offers to the Greek market ready bags with enriched pumice with the trademark oikiaLAVA, intended for domestic use.

oikiaLAVA bag is a ready to use product for producing vegetables at home. Throughout the course of the cultivation process, no fertilizer is required, either piercing at the bottom of the bag for the water to drain, but just only the addition of water.

In December 2015, the bag of oikiaLAVA was redesigned according with the feedback from the market and became smaller, handier and more attractive.

The ready oikiaLAVA bag can be used for at least 9 months from the beginning of the first planting, it is 100% recyclable and is available across Greece from LAVA affiliate network.

The development of the innovative ready product “oikiaLAVA” was made with the cooperation of the Laboratory of Vegetable Crops of the Agriculture Faculty of AUTH and was redesigned according with the market feedback.

The development of the innovative ready product “oikiaLAVA” was made with the participation of LAVA  S.A. employees as well as staff from the Laboratory of Vegetable Crops of the Agriculture Faculty of AUTH.

The ready bag oikiaLAVA is available across Greece from the LAVA affiliate network.  

The results from the disposal of «oikiaLAVA» in the Greek market are positive. Consumers often choose the «oikiaLAVA» solution as it enables an easy and simple cultivation of vegetables in urban environments.

During the years 2015 and 2016 1.935 pieces of the product in total was disposed to the market.
