A flag on every balcony!

The Municipality of Hellinikon-Argyroupoli decided to donate a large Greek flag to each student of its schools, on the occasion of the anniversary of October 28. Due to the measures against the spread of the corona virus, there will be no parades, so the Mayor's invitation is instead to place the Greek flag on the balconies of the city, honoring the anniversary.

The action is addressed to all citizens of the Municipality of Hellinikon-Argyroupoli

"Our national anniversary is a day of memory and honor, in the struggle of our ancestors against all those who wanted the subjugation of our country under the boot of Nazism. Our sacred duty is to remind future generations of their sacrifice, always defending Thermopylae who entrusted us" says the mayor of Ellinikos - Argyroupoli, Yiannis Constantatos

and adds:

"Due to the conditions we are all living with the coronavirus, this year the established festive parades and events will not take place in our city. For this reason, as a municipal authority, we took the initiative, and supplied all the students of the city with a large Greek flag, so that those who wish, can hang it on their balconies and in this way honor the memory and the sacrifice of the Fighters of October 28."

Due to the special and unprecedented conditions that our era is called to face due to the Covid19 pandemic, the Municipality of Hellinikon-Argyroupoli has chosen not to remain uninvolved in the celebration of October 28.

It strengthens the national spirit and urges those who wish to "hang" the blue and white flag on their balcony, providing every student in our city with a flag.

The Municipality of Ellinikos-Argyroupoli, through this action, shows in practice the respect for the morals and customs of our state and is once again close to its citizens even when the conditions do not allow it.

Through this pioneering movement, he strengthens the national spirit of his city and activates his citizens with a movement of offering, solidarity and gathering.
