The injuries caused from falls are a basic reason of mortality, as they are the 6th most common cause of death, in people above 65 years old. Apart from the cost on the injured person, the falls of elderly people have a great financial and psychological cost for their family, too. Αlso, the community has to deal with the care and the expenses of allowances and benefits given in need of injuries. The improving of quality of life on elderly citizens and the time extension that the individuals live independently in their homes, using ICT - based solutions for fall detection and prevention is, also, a benefit.
