Online Teacher Training Workshops on Teaching History based on the anniversary educational program "Seeking the legacy of the Greek War of Independence in Nineteenth-Century Macedonia"

The Initiative represents the effort of a private cultural institution, the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA), to offer free online teacher training workshops on teaching history of educational units and schools in collaboration with public educational institutions. The aim is to creatively approach history from pre-school to secondary education with an emphasis on the example of the historic events in 1821.

The seminars were designed in the context of the Museum's educational activities for the academic year 2020-2021 and in accordance with the publication of the anniversary calendar of IMMA, regarding the revolutionary movements in 19th century Macedonia which also served as a secondary historical source for the teacher. The Museum was invited by the Educational Project Coordinators of the Regional Centers for Educational Planning of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki to co-organize a number of educational days in the context of the anniversary events for the 200 years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution. These successful seminars were followed by the establishment of further collaborations with other educational institutions.
