The Municipal Library was founded in 1976 with 500 book titles. Today, following the actions of the municipal authority, it has been modernized and upgraded and has approximately 35,000 titles, which come either from purchase or donations from the residents of our municipality.
A new wing was also created with books just for children, in a friendly and creative space so that from an early age they love knowledge and learning.
The Municipal Library has an electronic catalog that is constantly renewed and enriched while it is available on the Internet through the integrated OpenABEKT online platform of the National Documentation Center.
A different 'bite' came to our city and its home is the Municipal Library of the Municipality of Ellinikos - Argyroupoli.
It is about bookitsa, the owl of knowledge and our Mayor Mr. Yiannis Constantatos invites you all to taste it.
bookitsa is the new mascot of the municipal library in the shape of an owl and was designed by the artist Charalambos Xoletsidis (Municipal employee). It is reflected in bookmarks that have already been shared with all the children of our city's kindergartens and primary schools, with the aim of bringing children (and the whole family) closer to libraries and developing a love relationship with books and knowledge.
