Objective Action

Responding to the serious and unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, the company took action initiatives to mitigate the consequences of Covid-19 by strengthening the public health sector in the sensitive area of Thrace, focusing on addressing the immediate needs of the University General Hospital of Alexandroupoli, both for its staff where hospitalized patients as well as for the diagnosis and treatment of the patients themselves.

In addition, it helped to strengthen the implementation of distance education for students and teachers.

Total population of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and School Community.

Description

In this context, within 2020, he carried out:

1. Donation to the Special Infections Unit of the B University Pathology Clinic of the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis, a device for monitoring vital parameters, a portable ultrasound machine, an electrocardiograph, and a Doppler of peripheral vessels with a total value of 6,000 euros to address the needs of patients with COVID- 19. The University General Hospital of Alexandroupoli has been designated as one of the country's Reference Hospitals for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 cases covering all of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. The needs were important for the clinics, especially the Special Infection Units, so at the call of B! University Pathology Clinic of the Hospital, the company immediately responded by offering the sum of 6,000 euros for the purchase of a device for monitoring vital parameters, a portable ultrasound machine, an electrocardiograph, and a Doppler of peripheral vessels.

2. Also, in the same above time, the company made a donation to the above mentioned University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis in the amount of 4,000 euros for the supply of 500 high protection masks against the spread of Covid 19 within the Hospital area (as indicated for the needs of medical and nursing staff with acceptance of a donation from the Hospital Administration).

3. Likewise, the company responded to the request of the Evros Chamber with a contribution of 1,000 euros, in order to purchase a portable ventilator for the needs of the Pediatric Clinic of the above-mentioned University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis during the Covid 19 period.

4. A sum of 5,000 euros was also made available by the company for the purchase of technological equipment for schools in the territory due to the health crisis of COVID-19.

Specifically, the donation of 5,000 euros that was offered related to the purchase of technological equipment through the Youth Entrepreneurship Association, Junior Achievement Greece, in order to make this equipment available to students and teachers who needed it during the implementation of distance education based on the Ministry's instructions Education. In this way, the company contributed beyond helping education and creating conditions for the further development of the digital skills of students in Greek schools.

Impact on Society

The immediate response of the company MYLOI THRAKIS I. OUZOUNOPOULOS S.A. in cooperation with the competent state bodies, with the above donation of medical technological equipment, as well as consumables to the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis, directly and effectively contributed to the strengthening of both the health structures and the efforts of the authorities to protect the population from the effects of the Covid-19 crisis.

Regarding the company's contribution by providing technological equipment to schools in the territory for the implementation of distance education, it is worth mentioning that the said equipment was made available by the school units to students and/or teachers for the needs of this type of education, where this is deemed necessary (e.g. in the case of students who belong to high-risk groups and cannot participate in the lesson in person, in case of suspension of the operation of a department / school unit). In the longer term, the equipment offered to schools will contribute to the further cultivation of the digital skills of the educational community.

The amount of the donation amounted to 16,000 euros.
