"The Smile of the Child" has supported more than 1,200,000 children and their families. Children victims of all forms of Violence, Children victims of Extinction, Children with health problems, Children who are or are threatened with poverty, have found a solution.
The main objective of the action is to promote the voluntary spirit and culture and the aim is to cover the innumerable needs of the organization nationwide through voluntary participation, The main criterion for a volunteer to be accepted, is to meet the needs of the Organization by utilizing the skills, abilities, wishes that are valuable for this contribution.
In the Organization "The Smile of the Child" we consider volunteering a dynamic element of social participation and development for the well-being of modern societies, which must be expressed through organized humanitarian action. It should remain an action completely detached from ideological, political and selfish criteria action, which helps to address issues concerning the child, to defend and safeguard children rights, as well as to support the family.
Our volunteers are employed in all our actions nationwide and cover basic needs, both with their specialty and by getting trained in predetermined tasks. The consistent participation of volunteers in our work makes it possible for us to implement our actions.
"The Smile of the Child" welcomes volunteers of all ages.

Individual volunteering
Collective volunteering / corporate volunteering: corporate volunteering within the framework of Corporate Social Responsibility has created a channel of supply and communication between our organization and various companies that demonstrate that they recognize their responsibility towards society. Through our experience we see a relationship of corporate voluntary activity being transformed with time into a relationship of strong friendship that we both build experiences.
Regular-extraordinary activity
The areas of voluntary activity are:
Child care in hospitals: children who after a prosecutor's order were removed from their family and until a suitable place of accommodation is found and for the necessary medical examinations, are in the children's Hospitals of Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras. Our volunteers are invited to look after them and offer them the hug they so miss for as long as they remain there.
Creative employment in children's hospitals:
In the children's Hospitals of Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras, there is a Department of creative employment, which aims to animate children who are hospitalized and fight their own battle for life. The contribution and participation of our volunteers there is invaluable.
Child & Family Support Centers:in these places the contribution of our volunteers, in the settlement of all kinds that gather, is very important, as they are promoted both in our homes and thousands of families facing living problems.
Volunteer Creative Workshop:
Taking advantage of the valuable offer of our volunteers, we managed to create our "workshop", in which besides favors and invitations are produced constructions available in our bazaars.
Bazaars / Exhibitions:
Throughout the year" the smile of the child " organizes and participates in various bazaars and exhibitions, aiming at the financial support of actions and the information of citizens about our work. Of course the presence of our volunteers there is more than necessary and valuable.
Administrative / Secretarial Support:
In our offices there are tasks that require the knowledge of using a computer or just ... only the appetite of our volunteers for archiving and paperwork!
Our Homes:
Our Homes are the last station of a volunteer. There he/she may take care of the children, or contribute to the smooth operation of the Home with supportive actions.

Important and essential is the contribution of people who want to offer through their professional activity. All kinds of professionals, every field, every specialty are of extreme value for "The Smile of the child", no matter what their specialty may be; doctors, plumbers, electricians, teachers, and everyone who just wants to offer voluntary work.
