The company Theofilos Chalkiadakis S.A. has been active in the hospitality industry since 1980. The investments of all these years in the construction of new modern hotel units are many. It is worth noting that the company has invested in the construction of two new hotel complexes in the last two years, with Cactus Bay welcoming its guests in the summer season of 2018 and continuing with Cactus Mare in the summer season of 2019 while at the same time they continue the renovations and the creation of additional infrastructure at Cactus Royal 5 * & Cactus Beach 4 *.

Objective Action

The company Theofilos Chalkiadakis S.A. – CACTUS HOTELS, as part of its corporate social responsibility, supports, communicates and cooperates with local businesses and the local community with the aim of protecting local culture and traditions as well as protecting the environment.

The company's CSR is directly linked to the business operations, towards the achievement of Sustainable Development guided by its vision, mission and values.

The approach of the UN's Global Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 (SDA - Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs) is an opportunity as well as a challenge for businesses. The point today is to move from theory to practice.

Cactus Hotels has committed through the establishment of corporate social responsibility to contribute in this direction by integrating social and environmental actions into our business practices.

On an annual basis, the company's sustainability report is drawn up, which reflects the degree of achievement of the goals set and measurable results as an assessment of the year, but new goals are also set for the following year.

The philosophy of Cactus is the concept of sustainable development, and cooperation and social dialogue naturally contribute to this.

We will refer specifically to the society pillar to which we submitted our initiative and we will only present our social work as the environmental one was mentioned in detail the previous year in the thematic section environment.

Social Action 2018 – Cactus Hotels

Theofilos Chalkiadakis SA – Cactus Hotels recognizes that a business should not be judged based on the quality of the services it offers as well as its financial results but also by its contribution to society as a whole.

Our commitment in this direction creates the social profile of the company and the formation of corporate social responsibility. Another year of social contribution was completed with important voluntary initiatives, charitable actions and sponsorships.

A total of 12 Corporate Social Responsibility actions of Cactus Hotels for the year 2018:

We supported the new promotion and outward promotion of Greek culture by the E-Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA). In the direction of an extroverted perception of the foundation's mission, the action attempts to "get to know" Greece on the planet by means of the distinctive characteristics that its culture carries over time, but also the distinct identity that is formed synchronously.
Financial contribution to the Palliative Care Association of Crete. The Association's mission is the intensive, HOLISTIC support of patients with chronic, serious and progressively worsening health problems, for which there are no other radical treatments in the hospital. Care is also provided to their relatives.
Courtesy of the DI.AS team. of the Immediate Action department of Heraklion. Free supply of personal protective equipment, namely fifteen bicyclist suits.
Offer of clothing and basic necessities for use by the Child and Family Support Centers in Crete. The Child's Smile relies entirely on donations from individuals and businesses.
Financial support by sending a sum of money to the account of the Municipality of Marathon for our fellow citizens who were affected by the fire in Mati Attica.
Voluntary blood donation with the participation of our staff to cover their needs but also that of their families and any other fellow human being in case of need.
Sponsorship to the Mochus sports club in order to support the local team.
Financial support of the Choir of Malia. We support financially as well as morally the effort for the cultural contribution of the local choir to the local society.
Donation of essential items (linen, clothing and furniture) to the Halicarnassus Detention Shop in order to cover operational needs of the service and maintain a good standard of living for the prisoners.
Food offering to the Holy Archdiocese of Crete and Arkalochori to meet the needs of vulnerable individuals - families.
Creation of a free daycare center for the children of Cactus Hotels employees under the supervision of specialized staff.
