Objective Action

Reliability, Credibility and Integrity are essential prerequisites for the success of the Knauf Group. Compliance with the laws and regulations of each country where Knauf operates is a must, as well as the respect and adherence by the employees. In order to accommodate the significance of this principle Knauf has set up a Code of Conduct describing in detail what is important in this context and defining what is expected by each employee.  Additionaly, the preparation for the implementation of the GDPR regulation in Greece and Cyprus has began.

Code of Conducted was implemented 4 years ago and is still active. Once a year all employees holding a company computer and email, are on-line trained/evaluated.


Description

Knauf Code of Conduct was given to all employees in a form of a brochure and it covers the following Principles: 

  1. Ethical and lawful management : Our conduct is lawful and fair
  2. No violations of antitrust laws : We engage in fair competition
  3. No corruption or bribery : We say “no” to corruption and bribery
  4. Gifts and benefits : We take a cautious approach to gifts
  5. Donations and sponsoring : Our sponsorship activities are reasonable and lawful
  6. Fair conditions of employment : We tolerate no form of discrimination
  7. Safety at work : We protect our employees’ health and safety
  8. Environment : We are committed to protect the environment
  9. Records and reports : We record accurately and in good time
  10. Handling company property : We respect and protect company property
  11. Conflicts of interest : We act exclusively in the company’s interest
  12. Secrecy and data protection : We treat sensitive data confidentially
  13. Information and training : We inform and train
  14. Reporting irregularities : We assume responsibility

Once annually, all employees holding a company computer/email, get and on-line training/evaluation. This training is based on a questionnaire with practices of every-day work cases and also provides information about other companies’ bad practices. Each employee has access to the correct answers and their justification, in order to further improve, as well as to their assessment and report of whether they need more training.

Impact on Society

The Knauf Code of Conduct implementation substantially helps the every-day employees activities, as it analytically provides the operational framework and also informs and protects employees. More specifically:

  • Enhances cooperation: Analyzes the operational framework, creating a common perception of what is accepted and what is not.
  • Provides information : During the on-line trainings/assessments, it provides information on published bad practices exercised by other companies which took penalties and in this way employees have a better view of what happens in the global market
  • Provides protection: During the on-line trainings/assessments, through questions involving good and bad practices, employees get trained in the right way of dealing with such incidents, enabling them to be better prepared for similar situations.  In each question (case study) they answer, they immediately see the correct answer and the justification.  After completion of the training/assessment, they can automatically see their scores.
  • Enhances the feeling of security and justice: All employees know the contact details of the Regional Compliance Officer.  They also know that any report concerning irregularities will be treated confidentially.  They know they can communicate with their Regional Compliance Officer in order to receive information/clarifications on any Code of Conduct related issue, as well as to report any irregularity.

  • The Group ensures that all employees have been informed of the implementation of the Knauf Code of Conduct.  All companies of the Group have issued (printing was realized by the mother company) the Code of Conduct in the local language and have distributed it to all employees (list of receipt signatures), as well as to every newcomer.
