Objective Action

Sustainability is a part of Tupperware’s DNA, and our view of it is three-dimensional. It includes environmental stewardship, but it also encompasses sustaining our people through business opportunities and ensuring our products are made responsibly. In other words, caring for our planet, our communities and the lives of those who make, sell and use our products is all interconnected. This focus on our triple bottom line enables us to drive our company toward a more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable future.

As it concerns the environment we proactively seek to minimize waste, energy use and greenhouse gases globally across all our manufacturing processes by applying our “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” (3R) resource conservation program.

Our consistent year-to-year success is achieved through various means, such as identifying new opportunities for material reuse in this case the compost bins.

The goal of this action is to reduce the volume landfill waste and  manage the waste in an environmentally friendly way.

Target Audience

All Tupperware associates as well as partners (Subcontractor employees working for the company).

Duration

From November 2016 until today.

Description

People, practices, philosophy and passion are all part of sustainable manufacturing at Tupperware. Through our comprehensive policies and high standards, we protect the health and safety of our associates, act as good stewards to the environment, and produce quality sustainable products.

Sustainability extends to Tupperware our pollution prevention and resource conservation initiatives. Strict, state-of-the-art environmental standards are in place at our manufacturing plants worldwide.

The success of our company was founded on the principles of sustainability by empowering women to succeed through our business opportunity, the selling of high-quality, durable products, protecting the environment, and supporting our communities around the world. To continue on this path of success, our intent is to act responsibly so that valuable natural resources are preserved and we continue to positively touch more lives.

Natural resources are essential for our growth. Therefore, acting responsibly and taking care of the environment is a priority for us at Tupperware.

Designing environmentally safe products for consumers; committing to adopt Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) program in our manufacturing facilities to reduce our environmental footprint.

Tupperware's goal is to increase the ecological awareness of its associates and customers.

For this reason it has established the Sustainability Week.

In November 2016 the management team, wanted to show to the associates the meaning of reuse end recycle so they created themselves a number of compost bins.

These bins were constructed from wooden pallets which already existed in the plant (reuse)  and are  environmentally friendly .

For the right use of the compost  bins, more recycle bins were placed in the area where the associates take their break.

All employees were trained on what we dispose in these bins and also where they can find them.

Today all garden and food wastes go to these compost bins.

The fertilizer which is created is used  to enrich the soil of the company's gardens
