SUBMITTED FROM:

COMPATT A.E.

Objective Action

The platform primarily serves the needs for the registration of the information included in the Hazardous Waste Identification Forms (HWID) prescribed by law and concerning the process of collecting and transporting vehicle and industrial battery waste. It also includes managing the details of the collectors, warehousers and recyclers who are contracted to the COMBATT SSED.

Target Audience

All involved in the alternative management of battery waste

Duration

Planning started in 2015. 2016 – 2017 piloting and improvements. 2018 and fully operational from there

Description

The process, which was based only on physical paperwork, is automated through the platform that allows the recording of information, and automates the process of performing checks, applying the rules imposed by the regulatory framework and the legal obligations of all involved.

In particular, it largely automates the recording and control mechanism. All data entered is directly correlated with existing entities, cross-checked for correctness, and checked for compliance with applicable regulations and company-provided project quality assurance rules.

The platform is accessible through a web tool that supports the above functions, and provides information extraction mechanisms for use with external data analysis and visualization systems. It gathers and processes data from various sources in real time, offering historical, current and predictive views of the company's activities and operations.

It is planned to implement tools that will allow companies participating in the COMBATT SSED to have direct access to the platform and the information they have provided, and to be able to directly register the information that concerns them. In addition, the development of applications for smartphones/tablets (enterprise mobility) is foreseen with the aim of serving the needs of the mobile workforce of both the company and the partners.

Impact on Society

The innovation of the project is the fact that it is the first time that a series of procedures required by the legal framework are computerized, at the same time enabling critical records and checks to be carried out in real time.

At the same time, the innovation of the platform lies in the fact that it is designed with cloud service and SaaS features. As such, it supports multiple organizations, ensuring information privacy and proper retention of mission-critical data. At the same time, it leverages the capabilities of the cloud to incrementally expand and add new functions.

In particular, for the waste management sector, it is a pioneering project with plenty of expansion possibilities that will facilitate the daily life of the companies involved, as well as the public supervisory bodies.

In particular, the platform can function as a complete CRM for businesses in the sector (most of which are not sufficiently computerized) offering features:

  • registration, archiving and management of clientele
  • work flow monitoring
  • cross-checking and data processing

At the same time, it will be a communication tool with the SSED as well as a tool for effective and documented compliance with the legal and regulatory framework that governs the alternative waste management sector.

In addition, the platform will offer important facilities and possibilities to the competent bodies of the public administration. It can act as an effective tool for cross-checking and cross-checking, while at the same time providing significant assistance in statistical tracking and reporting requirements.

Initiative Location

The platform is online, so access is accessible from any part of the world, via the internet

Benefits for Οrganization

COMBATT's electronic platform is an important tool for the operation of the company, and a driver for the development and expansion of its activities.

The platform contains the information included in the Hazardous Waste Identification Forms (HWID) provided for by law and concerning the process of collecting and transporting battery waste. COMBATT manages 4,000 – 6,000 IEDs annually. Each EIA contains at least 20 distinct types of records.

The benefits of using the platform for COMBATT are:

  • systematizes the logging task
  • creates a database for archiving as well as for reuse
  • increases recording speed and minimizes errors
  • offers automated control
  • facilitates, systematizes and automates the processing of records and the issuance of reports
  • offers the possibility to SSED partners to create an account and through it to register, archive and process their company information securely and confidentially.
  • It provides the ability to analyze log data in real time and extract business intelligence analytics
