Providing digital, supportive and counseling services to addicts and their families

Providing digital, supportive and counseling services to addicts and their families
SUBMITTED FROM:

OASIS ORG

Objective Action

The development of this specific action aims to solve the problem of counceling services and

sessions, which as a project is the main activity of the organization, for addicts and their families,

who live in different parts of Greece but due to the distance cannot attend

in person appointments with the councelors and supportive members of the organization.

An online interactive digital platform will be set up, to virtually connect the interested addicted person and their family with an addiction coucelor, to

carry out therapeutic sessions, as if they were on site in OASIS.

To carry out this task, 3 working positions will be created, with state-of-the-art computers, web cameras, microphones and corresponding software.

The novelty of this effort lies in the connection of addicted individuals with the consulting group of "OASIS", on a pan-Hellenic level, to provide our

services to those who need it throughout the country.

Thus more and more addicted individuals themselves will be helped, along with their families who

are known to suffer just the same.

Target Audience

In its 20 years of operation, "OASIS" has supported approximately 10,000 people throughout the country and has become the

point of reference in the field of addiction, having been the first to introduce the 12 step treatment program, according to the model of "Alcoholics

Anonymous" to Greece.

The target groups that will benefit from the organization's activities are:

  • People in the early stages of alcoholism
  • Cannabis addicts
  • Internet addicts (Gaming - Social media - gambling)
  • Individuals with a mild form of addiction who function socially, (legally administered substances – anxiolytics-sedatives).
  • Binging - Bulimics
  • People presenting addictive behavior in interpersonal relationships, (love & sex addiction) that negatively affects their life.
  • Codependents, (parents, partners, children, friends).
  • Formerly convicted - Impoverished substance abusers

Duration

The action aims to have a permanent duration and to occupy the organization in such a way that the added value

together with the classical forms of counseling and therapeutic interventions will not only maintain the

social benefits of our actions even after the end of funding and action, but it will also work cumulatively

in the direction of increasing the social footprint for the benefit of addicts and

of their families.

Description

Upon completion of the requested action that will take advantage of modern, cutting edge technologies.

whose added value together with the classic forms of counseling and therapeutic interventions

not only will it maintain the social benefits of our actions after the funding ends, but it will

work cumulatively in the direction of increasing the social footprint for the benefit of

dependents and their families.

Counseling individual and group support for addicted people and their families
Providing guidance and support by phone and via skype to those who need it throughout Greece
Organization of speeches, seminars, street-work actvities and interpersonal relations targeted to the general population, that cover a large part of the country
Production of printed informative and audiovisual material (12 videos, 5 spots and 3 half-hour informative shows)
Street-work in public spaces, in collaboration with Municipalities and educational institutions and informative speeches (education and prevention)

We aim to create an online digital platform, using cutting-edge technology, which will bring the interested individuals and their families a step closer

to finding a solution to their serious and destructive issue of addiction.

Addicted persosns will be a few steps away from coming in contact with the

therapeutic team of therapists and councelors that "OASIS" has at its disposal.

To bring this aim to reality, 3 working positions will be created, with 3

new, state-of-the-art computers, microphones and web-cameras. The innovative nature of our activities

comes down to our aim to create a pan-Hellenic network that will help the team of OASIS

carry out their task and complete their goals.  Thus the organization will be a "matrix of self-help groups",

for any type of addiction and family groups that will be connected with other volunteering groups and organizations.

In this way, more and more addicts will be helped themselves and their family members who

as is known they suffer the same as the addicts.

Impact on Society

"OASIS" will be evaluating the intervention of the action to be carried out at a specific point in time

(interim and ex post evaluation) will focus on whether the objectives have been met and the intended outcomes have been achieved, as well as the

impact on the organization's future operation and content of its structure and coherence.

All prescribed scientific methods and procedures will be applied with the use of questionnaires

and indicators for drawing conclusions. The internal evaluation of our actions results from the processing

of the dependents' data derived on the basis of the principles of privacy and confidentiality and arises

only through figures.

The meetings of the executives of the specific action will be held every 15 days. Each executive in charge of the specific tasks will create a of the

quantitative program and qualitative account of the actions, the number of people (beneficiaries) that have benefited by the community related with

other addicted individuals and the team of professionals and volunteers in "OASIS",

as well as the consequent impact of actions at local and national level.

Benefits for Οrganization

From the operation of the above action, "OASIS" will add one more powerful tool to its arsenal

developed in the 17 years of its operation to combat all kinds of addiction and which it practices traditionally and

with classic ways of counseling and support.

It is now entering the electronic online counseling process and this will bring people together, maximize

the already known and recognized "social footprint" in society

The innovation of the effort lies in the fact of networking on a pan-Hellenic level and will be connected to groups

self-help that have now been developed throughout the Greek territory. The consulting of the group of members of "OASIS"

will maximize its positive and constructive intervention over time and scope as it will include addicts

and members of their families from all over the country,

Thus the organization will be a "matrix of self-help groups", for all kinds of addiction and in family groups

which will also connect with other voluntary groups and organizations.

In this way, more and more addicts will be helped themselves and their family members who, as is known, suffer

the same as addicts
