Objective Action

The innovative educational program "Young Scientists in the Municipality of Aristotle" was developed as a result of continuous consultation with the local communities in which we operate. Through the open dialogue with our stakeholders, we recognized their need to collaborate to create a program that could only be found in large urban centers. Thus, we partnered with EduAct, and we are now implementing an integrated robotics and S.T.E.A.M. program of high quality in NE Halkidiki.

The program aims at local development and strengthening of capacity building in the Municipality of Aristotle. The children and teenagers of the Municipality of Aristotle (area where Hellas Gold operates) discover the power of knowledge, their aptitude and talents and cultivate important cognitive and social skills that will make them citizens of future.

Target Audience

Children and young people (4-14 years old) from the Municipality of Aristotle participated in the Educational Robotics and S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) workshops, in specially designed and equipped spaces located in the Municipality of Aristotle.

Duration

December 2018 – May 2019 when the first cycle of the training action was completed.

Description

The educational robotics (workshops) and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) workshops were designed for children and young people of the Municipality of Aristotle, by the scientific team of eduACT with the support of Hellas Gold.

They were held on a weekly basis in two of the local communities of the Municipality of Aristotle, giving access to high level specialized knowledge and a unique learning experience that exercises the mind and promotes critical thinking.

Through innovative educational methods that cultivate knowledge through play, the children and young people of the Municipality of Aristotle have come to love science and new technologies, while developing a variety of social skills related to creative problem solving, strengthening critical thinking and self-esteem, and the effective use of technology.
