Chalandri is an urban area and municipality of the Northern Sector of Athens of the Attica Region, with 77,102 inhabitants in 2021 and an area of 10,805 square kilometers. In ancient times it was the seat of the Municipality of Flya, the birthplace of Euripides. It was inhabited by Asians Minor after the Asia Minor Catastrophe in 1922.

The Municipality stands out for its even plan and extensive network of pedestrian and cycle paths. It is located at an altitude ranging between 185-230 meters and is accessible from major highways such as Attiki Odos, Kifissias and Mesogeion. It is served, among others, by the Metro and Suburban stations, Chalandri, Plakentias and Nimismatokopio.

Important monuments are the Asia Minor Fountain of Helios in memory of the homonymous fountain in Asia Minor, the church of Panagia Marmariotissa and the Asia Minor Xerizomos Monument.



Objective Action

The Municipality of Chalandrio has created 2 forty-minute documentaries one on Culture, and the cultural works produced at the local level and a special that tells the life and work of the donor of the Aetopoulio Cultural Center of the Municipality of Halandrio, Kalliopi Moustakas, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the her birth.

The aim of the two films is to preserve the historical memory of the local cultural heritage, to pay due respect to the benefactors of the place, to highlight the course of the development of their vision by the project's successors and the local administrations, to present the overall cultural project that forms the local cultural identity of the place.

To citizens but also to citizens in general who are interested in cultural films and documentaries of the genre to a wider public that aspires to get in touch with the history of the city

The Municipality of Chalandrio presents a short film about public culture, as a motivation and example for the new generation.

The film aims to highlight and protect local culture, with the promotion of cultural goods and contemporary cultural works produced locally. The film begins with the introduction of the life and work of the donor of the Aetopoulios Cultural Center Kalliopi Moustakas, then all aspects of the educational and cultural events of our place are developed, seeing the continuation and development of her vision by the administrations of the Municipality of Chalandrio.

The recognition, public praise and honoring of the Municipality of Chalandrio is not a typical historical record, but a sincere recognition and due honor to the benefactors and donors of our place.

In this context and on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Kalliopi Moustakas-Aetopoulos, educator, donor of the Aetopoulios Cultural Center of the Municipality of Chalandrio, the Directorate of Culture of the Municipality of Chalandrio, we proceeded to create a documentary.

The realization of the documentary concerns the research, gathering, classification and recording of historical material about the life and educational work of the donor and its production is part of a project - a tribute to the contribution of the donor to the city and culture.
