ISS Facility Services A.E.

At UNISON we help our customers work in a safe, clean and healthy working environment. In addition, we relieve them of the burden of managing and maintaining building facilities – so they can remain focused on their core business – while committing to a superior level of service delivery.

We began our journey in 1977, as a subsidiary company of the multinational ISS service provider group. Today, we lead and develop the Facility Management industry in the country, having received the experience, know-how and innovative practices from the global ISS group of companies, of which we remain an exclusive partner.

Objective Action

October is breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer is the most common malignancy for women in the Western world and the second leading cause of cancer death, after lung cancer. We at ISS Greece, as a responsible employer, recognizing that we have a large number of women in our team, decided to contribute in practice to the information and to promote the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer by offering 140 free mammograms. We want each of our female employees to stop being afraid and incorporate into her life the regular checkup that can save her life. Especially for our people, the majority of whom are low paid due to the nature of our services and the National General Collective Labor Agreement, it is important to give them the opportunity for free mammography which for many of them, unfortunately, can be a luxury. Also, with the availability of free mammography, time is also saved as there is no need for a referral from a doctor, waiting at the diagnostic center, etc. But mainly it is our intention to instill in our people the importance of prevention and early diagnosis at an early stage because then, yes, cancer is curable. After all, mammography is something that all women know the importance of but neglect and postpone for various reasons. Finally, Health & Safety is of utmost importance to ISS as our people are the ones who provide our services and are without exaggeration the company's only asset.

Target Audience

In this initiative, we encourage all women who answer YES to the following questions to participate:

1.  Are you an employee of ISS Greece and can you transfer to one of the regions: Attica, Thessaloniki, Kalamata, Sparta, Chania, Heraklion, Kozani, Kavala?

2. Are you over 35?

If YES, then register on our website (www.issgr.com/breastcancer) to receive a free mammogram at an Affidea diagnostic center until 31.12.2019.

Duration

The standard time period for the free mammogram is set until 31.12.2019. Of course, in specific cases an extension will be given, as this initiative is not at all characterized by ISS as a "project" to be subject to the narrow limits of the deadline.

Description

Inspired by the race given by the Alma Zois-Greece Race for the cure and on the occasion of the month of October dedicated to breast cancer, we decided to participate in our own different way. In the last decade, we have continuously participated with dozens of entries in the annual Greece Race for the cure. This year, we decided to contribute in practice to the information and to promote the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer with a more... "ISS initiative". Specifically, instead of participating in the Greece Race for the Cure, we decided to 10 times the amount of money we would give for our participation, and in collaboration with Affidea to offer free 140 mammograms to female colleagues over 35 years old. In the above initiative, we are actively supported by Karcher (partially kindly sponsored) as well as by "Alma Zois" who provided us with valuable supporting material. We promoted our action through written and verbal communication to all colleagues within the organization and at the same time shared our initiative on ISS social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram). For the campaign we created, the pink color dominates, which is the official symbol of action related to breast cancer worldwide, while our colleague A.P. was chosen as a "model" for our campaign. (working in cleaning) to make our message as direct and human as possible. What we want is for our staff to identify with her and apply. Our message is clear and decisive "I will go. You;". In order to participate, those interested will simply need to fill out a form on our website page (www.issgr.com/breastcancer) that asks for simple information such as name, phone number and city of work-residence. On the page we have uploaded a link from Alma Zois to inform them about breast cancer, as well as information about the cooperating companies (Affidea, Karcher).

Impact on Society

To date and almost 1 week after the announcement of our initiative, we have almost covered the number of free mammograms with the result that there is a provision to cover an even greater number through preferential pricing. In addition, our action on social media gathered high rates of engagement and impact as we have already exceeded 20,000 views (impact) and over 2,000 interactions with an engagement rate of over 10%. Specifically, on the official ISS Facebook account alone, we have more than 1,000 like(s) and 55 shares.

Initiative Location

The initiative takes place in various cities-regions of Greece and specifically in a place where the women-workers of ISS can go and Affidea has a privately owned diagnostic center such as:

Working with Organization

For this initiative of ours, we have to thank from the bottom of our hearts the companies and organizations that share the same sensitivity as us and actively supported our initiative and by extension a social group that is strongly affected. In particular, our initiative is supported by Karcher through a partial generous sponsorship, which stands out for its actions regarding corporate social responsibility, Affidea, which through its diagnostic centers helps us to implement this action in various cities throughout Greece and finally the Panhellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer "Alma Zois" through the provision of supporting material to make available to our over 2,000 people of which 60% are women.

Workers Participation

The participation of female employees is purely voluntary and in no case do we require participation or wish to be informed about the results of the examinations. Our initiative is solely limited to informing about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis, to encourage our colleagues to participate, to cover the cost of mammograms by giving them the convenience of not having a referral, medical history or the need for a pre-arranged appointment, etc. a. By promoting relevant Affidea coupons to our interested colleagues, our own involvement as ISS is also completed, as we do not have and under no circumstances wish to be informed of results, which colleagues and when they joined, etc.

Benefits for Οrganization

The ISS of Greece has as its monastic goal prevention and early diagnosis, so that we too can contribute to limiting, if not eliminating, breast cancer. Especially when we employ more than 1,000 female employees, the value of being an ethical and responsible employer becomes even more valuable. At the same time, through actions like this we increase the commitment of employees, strengthen the image of the brand towards the internal and external environment and above all prove in practice that Health & Safety for ISS is of the utmost importance. After all, we want our people to return home healthy, just as they left it. In addition, it is also a tangible way to strengthen - at least - the colleagues who really need it and to promote concepts such as prevention, early diagnosis, value of life, etc.
