Together! Empowering the young people of Thessaloniki!

Objective Action

Τhe pandemic conditions brought about challenges for the young people, who had to redefine their daily life to meet their new professional and personal requirements. The team of TITAN’s Efkarpia plant decided to come to their aid in a meaningful way and together with among, the Thessaloniki-based innovation organization which specializes in matters of young people, networking and innovation, they developed the “together” initiative.

Τhe “together” initiative was addressed το young professionals 25 to 35 years of age in the wider Thessaloniki area.

The "together" initiative started in October 2021 and ended in June 2023.


Description

Critical issues regarding the potential for city professionals to invest their knowledge and creativity in strengthening Thessaloniki’s professional ecosystem were highlighted in the survey carried out by Ierax Analytics. Recognizing the needs and challenges the young people are facing, the “together” initiative was developed and was addressed to young professionals 25 to 35 years of age in the wider Thessaloniki area. The scope of the initiative is to foster a safe environment for soft and hard skills empowerment, exchange of views and support, achieve work-life balance, and strong networking among the young people, partners and organizations in the city.

The programme was formally announced to local institutions such as the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Central Macedonia Region, the Alexander Innovation Zone and other similar organizations via a structured schedule of briefings and meetings in October 2021. The first cycle of “together” culminated in a meeting for the exchange of ideas and best practices with the city’s organizations and a co-creation workshop among the participants of the programme for shaping the community’s operational framework. The knowledge and experience gained led to another two cycles, with a renewed programme and the active participation of the first cycle’s alumni in the design, to further expand the strategic alliances with the city’s agents of innovation whose actions contribute greatly to the forging of strong communities.

Impact on Society

  • We created a dynamic community of 200 young professionals who acquired skills and actively participate in both financial and social life of the city through networking. A key element was the input of the first cycle’s alumni in the design.
  • We organized 40 workshops and meetings with over than 30 experienced executives from the marketplace as either speakers or mentors. They shared knowhow and experience, focusing on the participants’ professional empowerment and the forging of strong relations.
  • We have developed synergies with over 30 groups and institutions from the local government (municipal and regional administration) and civil society. The impact of “together” on the ecosystem of Thessaloniki is unique, through strong collaborations and constant interaction with the city’s mechanisms and key players.

  • YMCA Thessaloniki, for actions to activate the city's youth and volunteering
