Respecting the environment is a key priority for the Company, therefore an Integrated Environmental Management System is applied to all the plants, which has been audited and certified in accordance with the requirements of the International Standard ISO 14001:2004. Recognizing the importance of environmental protection and taking into consideration the worldwide environmental problems, the Company aims at reducing its environmental footprint, promoting recycling and protecting natural resources. The Environmental Policy includes the Company’s commitment in order to achieve its targets for the protection of the environment.

HELLENIC CABLES aspires at the continuous improvement of its environmental performance. Acknowledging and evaluating the environmental consequences of its activities, the Company undertakes to reduce its environmental footprint by applying environment-friendlier methods. The Environmental Management System is applied to all the plants, which has been audited and certified in accordance with the requirements of the International Standard ISO 14001:2004. The Company has recognized the significance of building an operational model, based on three environmental commitments:
• Prevent all undesirable environmental conditions.
• Continuous environmental performance.
• Comply with effective legislation related to the protection of the environment.
The Company’s Environmental & Quality Director and Environmental Managers develop and set the targets regarding the Environmental Management System and provide the environmental guidelines for all employees.
The Company constantly improves its Environmental Management System, implementing annual investments related to environmental protection and preservation of natural resources. In 2012, HELLENIC CABLES made environmental investments stood at 203.204 euro, and in 2013 at 172.585 euro. In 2012, the FULGOR production plant was operationally integrated in HELLENIC CABLES Group of Companies. In 2013, the production plant of FULGOR was also certified in accordance with the requirements of the International Standard ISO 14001:2004 and the environmental investments increased by 238.135 euro.
Environmental Policy Initiatives:
• Render the necessary resources and authorizations for the operation of the Environmental Management System, providing constant training to its personnel and motivating the employees in all administration levels to contribute to the common objective.
• Prevent all undesirable environmental conditions by using safe technologies, methods and preventive procedures for critical situations and accidents that could threaten the environment.
• Assess all suppliers in order to motivate them to adopt a better environmental policy.
• Reduce natural resources consumption, noise level and waste materials by implementing the optimal available methods.
• Comply with effective legislation and signed regulatory arrangements in related to the protection of the environment.
• Produce qualitative and environmental friendly products using means that have the minimum environmental impact while setting and monitoring annual environmental targets.
Respecting the results of the actions taken for the environmental protection is a key priority for the Company.
For that reason, we set specific monitoring indicators, such as: Electric and Thermal Energy Consumption (overall and specific per ton and per production plant), direct and indirect Carbon Dioxide Emissions (overall and specific per ton and per production plant), Water Usage and Waste Management indicators.
Within 2013, 96,81% of the three production plants (Thiva, Oinofyta, Livadeia) waste was recycled, like the 76,85% of the Corinth plant waste.
In all company's plants in Inofita, Thiva, Leivadia, Viotia and Corinth.
The Environmental Management System is addressed both to our employees and our business partners operating in our plants. The management of HELLENIC CABLES assigns the verification of the Management System to an independent certification body (TUV Hellas).
Employee participation is an important success factor for all activities relating to environmental protection.
