City of Elefsina belongs to the Region of Attica, which established by the project Kallikrates with the combination of pre-existing City of Eleusis and Magoulas' community.

During 2010 - 2013, totally 820 luminaries replaced with others of low energy consumption luminaries and installed photovoltaic systems (40kW total power) in 4 schools of Elefsina's Municipality.

In order to reduce the electricity consumption for lighting of municipal buildings and other municipal areas (squares, parks, etc.) have been replaced incandescent bulbs with other energy efficient lighting and installation of photovoltaic systems in 4 primary schools. These actions reduce lighting costs and CO2 emissions.
These actions reduce the lighting costs (saving resources for other social activities for the citizen’s benefit) and slow the climate change down (greenhouse effect).
