"The Smile of the Child" has supported more than 1,200,000 children and their families. Children victims of all forms of Violence, Children victims of Extinction, Children with health problems, Children who are or are threatened with poverty, have found a solution.
"The Smile of the Child" implements this action since 2005.
«The Smile of the Child» implements the action of the "Daycare Homes" with the aim to provide care for children, whose families face serious problems. These difficulties can derive from social, financial or serious health problems of the parents which as a consequence render them unable to ensure the basic needs of their children.
The main objective is to provide support to children and the families in an effort to strengthen them and ensure the proper and health development of the children.
The purpose of this action is the holistic support of the children and the strengthening of the family, to make it functional and contribute to the ability of the family to meed the needs of the children and offer them a smooth and healthy development.
In the framework of this action, we ensure the following provisions for the children:
The Daycare homes of the Organization welcome children with good health, from 4 to 12 years old, of both genders, regardless of race or nationality, Children with a slight form of mental or environmental retardation may also join. The children participating in the Daycare Home action mainly come from the municipality in which the structure is located, without excluding the case of children living in neighboring municipalities. Children of other areas are not excluded if there are vacancies, or in the case that the child's participation serves a particularly acute social need of the family which is specifically justified and is within the functional capabilities of the Organization.
The action is implemented throughout the year. «The Smile of the Child» initiated this action in 2005.
Daycare Homes support children by providing them with everything they need for their smooth development, without cutting the off from their family environment. In the morning children go to school while afterwards, with the support of specialized scientific personnel, they do their homework, follow outdoor activities, play, eat and return to their families by the end of the day, having completed all the daily activities followed by a child of their age group.
The annual participation in the Daycare Homes is as follows;
2014: 57 children
2015: 53 children
1st semester 2016: 46 children
"The Smile of the Child" operates three (3) Daycare Homes in the following locations:
Daycare interconnects and cooperates with the social services of local authorities and municipalities, the educational units which children attend, public hospitals and medical centers and all local cultural, sports, ocal intervention and development services.

Volunteering is an important and decisive element in the operation of Daycare Homes. Volunteers are people of all age groups who wish to allocate their free time qualitatively for the support of children accommodated in the Daycare Homes.
