Elval applies a humanistic approach based on establishing stable and long-lasting relationships with its staff. Its humanistic approach is reflected in every company aspect regarding to employee benefits and development programs that combine working and personal life.
On Sunday, April 19th 2015 the “Open Door Day” event took place at Elval’s plant, at Oinofita. For the first time, company doors were opened for its employees to visit the factory, together with their families. Participation was very high and more than 1.400 people had fun and got acquainted with Elval’s facilities.
The schedule of activities was extensive and addressed both kids and adults. In the communication hall, kids participated in creative activities such as handcrafts, graffiti wall, air hockey, gardening, face painting and enjoyed performances by Alex – the magician. In the plant’s yard, visitors had a delicious lunch, desserts and refreshments.
Additionally, the project “Every Can Matters”, sponsored by Hellenic Aluminium Association was there and supported the creative engagement of both children and adults. There were some huge floor recycling games which attracted a lot of people and the refreshments/beer cans designed to raise can recycling awareness were turned into flower pots (the children planted aromatic plants in the cans and took them home). The sustainability of aluminium packaging was promoted this way.
In order to offer a safe and relaxing tour at the plant for all attendants (employees and their family members) due to the fact that Elval’s area is very big, small electric trains were used for the plant tour and that was something that impressed all visitors. Some of the employees on board played the role of “guides” and gave all the necessary information concerning the route and the production process of Elval’s plant.
“Open Door Day” policy was dedicated to the staff’s families and the participation was quite impressive.
It must be acknowledged that employment is an integral part of every human’s life. Therefore, the company decided that it was very important to open its doors and welcome its staff’s families in order to get to know Elval’s facilities and show the children where their parents work.
It’s worth mentioning that in order to make this day successful, a lot of preparation had to be done for months. All employees, who were either involved in the set up and preparation or placed in shifts on that day, were very pleased to work voluntarily.
