Operation of Childrens Creative Employment Centers

The Municipality of Kalamata extends from the cove of the Messinian Gulf to the peaks of the Taygetos and the plain of Pamisos. It has a population of 69,849 (2011) and develops actions to serve its citizens and protect the environment.



Objective Action

Their goal is:

a) The harmonization of the family and professional life of the parents / guardians

b) The physical, emotional, mental and social development of children, through new pedagogical approaches and techniques, utilizing their interests, experiences and knowledge and creating ecological consciousness

 

Target Audience

  • Working / unemployed mothers / guardians wishing to enter the labor market
  • Children 5-12 years old (including Roma)
  • Disabled people of all ages
 

Duration

The Children's Creativity Centers operate from September 1 to July 31 of each year from 17.00 to 21.00 on weekdays, during the winter months, while during the summer months from June 20 to July 31, as well as during the Easter and Christmas holidays, they operate during in the morning, ie from 8.00 to 16.00 when the parents are at work.


Description

The Creative Employment Centers for Children of the Municipality of Kalamata operate in a context that proposes the creative employment of children and the satisfaction of their basic right to quality free time. In this context, there are five Laboratories, namely:

B) Environment and Science

C) Art and Culture

D) Informatics and Robotics

E) Philanthropy

Impact on Society

Beneficiaries (year 2017-2018): 326 children with placement value, 96 children without, over 200 children as guests. 50 People with disabilities, 16 Roma

Staff (year 2017-2018): 29 teaching staff and 11 support staff at the Children's Creative Employment Centers and 16 scientific and support staff at the Children's Creative Employment Centers for people with disabilities.

Outdoor activities (2017-2018): 63 outdoor activities with 225 group participations



Initiative Location

The Centers for Creative Employment of Children of the Municipality of Kalamata are housed in the building facilities of the Primary Schools: 1st, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 18th, 21st, Laikon, Asprochomatos, Thourias, Arfaron of the Municipality of Kalamata, while KDAPMEA is housed in Eastern Center of Kalamata.

Further external actions of KDAP are carried out in the city squares, in the port, in the swimming pool, in archeological sites, etc.
