Continuous development until today with important stations the installation of the two steel heat treatment units, in 1995 and 2007 respectively. M.J.MAILLIS SINGLE MEMBER S.A. is one of the top steel strap producers in the world by serving global and national companies across a variety of sectors including steel mills and steel service centers, aluminum and copper processors, and glass manufacturers.
We are constantly developing new or modified versions of our existing products. Our heat treatment unit and rolling mill give the flexibility to produce products to high specifications in a variety of widths and lengths which in turn can minimize the waste in our customer’s packaging operations, usually by over-strapping their goods. We describe ourselves as an “Efficient Solution Partner in Transit Packaging” and we take ownership of all transactions with our customers – from product solution design to product solution delivery and after sales support. Steel strap is considered one of the most sustainable products in packaging as it can be 100% recycled. The use of steel scrap reduces the consumptions of mineral and energy resources for extracting iron from the ore in a great extent. A strong incentive for the customer to recycle the steel, after its use, is its sale value, thus avoiding the relative disposal or treatment costs that usually accompany a company's waste.
More than 95% of our company’s steel strap sales is addressed to foreign customers who, influenced by the trend of the time to reduce the consumption of plastic, are expected to turn their attention and interest to more environmentally friendly packaging materials such as steel strap, replacing polyethylene (PP) and polypropylene (PET) strap.
Annual production and sales of steel strap is estimated to 40,000 tones and 100% of the steel scrap that results from the various stages of our production process is recycled from our external partners. The annual amount of our company’s steel scrap that is recycled is estimated to 5.000 tones, which is about 4,900 tons of iron. Recycling steel can reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional production methods.

Steel strap is a specialized packaging material that is mainly used in heavy industry applications. The know-how related to the production of this product is limited to the technically qualified staff of our company. In cases of improvement of certain properties of the bandage tape, we cooperate with our specialized suppliers or partners.
Furthermore in the past for the analysis and utilization of waste we have collaborated with the Metallurgy Laboratory of the School of Mining Engineering and Metallurgy of NTUA and with the Laboratory of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry of the School of Chemical Engineering of NTUA.
