Description

A sustainable and resilient supply chain is essential to achieve the goal of de-ligninisation.

Our purchasing processes are based on pre-contractual and contractual behavior oriented towards mutual trust, transparency and cooperation. In addition to ensuring the necessary quality standards, supplier performance must be improved alongside a commitment to best practice in human rights, working conditions, occupational health and safety and environmental responsibility.

The Code of Conduct, the Zero Tolerance to Corruption Plan, the Human Rights Policy, the Model in accordance with Legislative Decree 231/01 and Enel's Global Compliance Program all support the procurement process and serve as a guide and code of conduct for suppliers .

For the above reasons, our partners are selected and evaluated, both during their inclusion in our supplier list and during our cooperation with them, based not only on business criteria but also on sustainable development criteria. Also, all contracts incorporate a "term of compliance" of our suppliers with the principles of the UN Global Compact (in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption).

The number of certified suppliers with a contract still active at the end of 2020 is approximately 5,100 (38% of active contracts as of 31/12/2020), while the total number of active certified suppliers is 16,124

Benefits for Οrganization

We take a structured approach to analyzing and monitoring the procurement process to ensure that the best partners are selected and contracts are executed based on the highest sustainability standards.
In particular, risk assessments are carried out for all categories of purchased products. The main risks identified relate to economic, environmental and social aspects.

83% of category 1 suppliers (active contract on 31/12/2020 with a value of more than €25,000) - approximately 12,000 - are considered critical, taking into account their strategic importance for the business, the volume of purchases and the potential economic, social and environmental impacts.

Sustainability criteria are applied from the initial stages of supplier selection, focusing on health, safety, environment and human rights. Additionally, at the tender stage, specific Sustainability K criteria are applied where suppliers who commit to enhancing their sustainability are rewarded. These suppliers go beyond the traditional concept of cost savings, covering any price with the added value contributed by the more sustainable purchases made. Throughout the life of each contract, we monitor compliance with our requirements and the commitments made in relation to the Sustainability Ks by implementing the Supplier Performance Management programme.
