The issues of agricultural activities, the "war" for the exploitation of seeds, mutants, standardization/processing of food, the anthropogenic urban environment and the consequences of climate change for crops and species, are causes of a modern food risk. crisis. Against this reality, "Kivotos" acts as a "condenser" - archive, an exemplary tool of information and knowledge about the benefits and possibilities of agriculture in metropolitan areas. The activity of INTERAMERICAN since 2016 in agricultural insurance and the long tradition of the parent company ACHMEA in this insurance sector were the reason for the sponsoring support of the project by the company. The "Kivotos" is an object of educational interest and is visited daily by school students with their teachers.

The work of renovating both the interior space where "Kivotos" is housed and its surrounding space as well as the promotion of the "Kivotos", in order to fulfill the goals now shared with the Management Body, which consist mainly of environmental awareness, information and education of the citizens and students, lasted 1.5 years.
The economic crisis that Greece and the European area is going through is at the same time a crisis of production and work and ultimately a crisis of human efficiency, within the metropolitan, and generally man-made, environment. Beyond the borders of the metropolis, the rural space is going through this crisis after the collapse of mechanized monoculture agriculture and European subsidies. The crisis of the rural area is related to the possibility and quality of nutrition. At the same time, the harsh living conditions of the economic crisis in the metropolis turn the eyes to the countryside, the available free land, as a dynamic reserve and promise for work, quality of life and for the creation of communities, networking and development through symbiotic practices of habitation.
In connection with all of the above, as well as the commitments undertaken by INTERAMERICAN as an active member in international initiatives and forums on Climate Change (Declaration of Positioning of Institutional Investors on Climate Change, 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations), in 2018 proceeded in collaboration with the "Antonis Tritsis" Metropolitan Park of Environmental and Educational Activities and Social Economy Development for the renovation of the Kivotos of Seeds.
Since 2011 it has been hosted in a specially designed area of the "Antonis Tritsis" Metropolitan Park, after first traveling to the 12th Venice International Architecture Biennale in 2010, a contemporary Ark 12 meters long, 2.70 meters wide and almost 3.50 meters high, the "Kivotos of Seeds". It is a wooden construction that can be visited and solved. "Kivotos" implements the idea of a mobile archive of seed, plants and plant genetic material, resulting from collection through networks. This file is proposed as an exemplary tool of knowledge and information about the benefits and possibilities of agriculture in metropolitan areas. It has its own architectural structure that allows for archiving, the storage of seeds and plants as well as the preparation of food.

The action was implemented in collaboration with the "Antonis Tritsis" Metropolitan Park of Environmental and Educational Activities and Social Economy Development, which is the responsible body for managing the park.
On the occasion of the World Environment Day, INTERAMERICAN organized and financially supported a landscaping action by the company's employees for the painting and restoration of surfaces in building facilities of the largest metropolitan Park of Attica, "Antonis Tritsis". The company's volunteers, in addition to the work they offered, also had the opportunity to get to know the project "Kivotos of Seeds", which is exhibited in a special area of the Park, which has been properly designed with the sponsorship of INTERAMERICAN. Mrs. Lula Margaritis, member of the management body and responsible for environmental education in the Park, guided the people of the company to "Kivotos".
