Each brown bin for biowaste has an RFID installed to identify each bin and a scales have been placed on each bin that weighs each bin before it is emptied. All data is collected on a central data platform, thus ensuring the historicity of the data each year, giving the Cleaning Department the ability to predict and modify the collection schedule accordingly by thickening or diluting the routes. Saving labor hours, fuel, nuisance, less environmental burden on exhaust, less maintenance costs and consumables.

The Gijón Municipal Environmental Services Company (ERA) from Spain, the Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management and the City of Antwerp, the Authority, are participating as Lead Partners in the project. Of Environment & Resources of Malta, from Greece the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion, Snaga, Waste Management Company and other Utilities from Slovenia, as well as the Municipality of Drobeta Turnu Severin and the Municipal Council of Mehendit from Romania.
